Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) strives to ‘Let No One Sit on the Sidelines’ and operates under a mission to promote development and well-being of youth and adults who have a physical or visual disability. GLASA provides inclusive and creative recreation, fitness and competitive sports activities. GLASA serves over 600 individuals in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin each year through direct programming and over 3,000 youth and adults through education and outreach initiatives.
Last year the JCAT program raised about $3,000 to purchase a sport wheelchair for the youth basketball program. We had a few players get really involved, but this year we will launch a new campaign that will allow ALL boys (and families) to easily take part. The "Roll With GLASA" t-shirt will sell for $17. The entire portion above cost will go to the GLASA youth basketball program, approximately a $10 donation per shirt. The JCAT teams have been invited to attend a GLASA practice by grade. The boys (wearing the custom "swag") will have a chance to assist, participate and scrimmage with the GLASA players. This is a tremendous opportunity to use their love and enthusiasm for the sport to connect with other kids on a new level. It will expose our young players to service, while having fun with friends.
We are hoping to see parents and siblings sporting the “Roll With GLASA” shirts in the stands at our games and tournaments. We are targeting 100% participation and love the shared message, “Don’t let your challenges stand in your way, ROLL OVER THEM!”
